Design Story

A skeleton reclines inside a woodgrain coffin, one hand raised in a single, unbothered thumbs up. Above and below, NEVER and BETTER curve in wide-tracked capitals, framing the illustration like a caption bracket. The linework is all hatching and grain — no fills, no colour, no gradient — so the graphic reads as drawing rather than print. Negative space between the type and the coffin gives the composition air, and the arc of the lettering softens the hard horizontal of the box. Tonal contrast is absolute: ink on blank ground, nothing in between.

Centred on the chest and scaled generously, the graphic anchors the oversized silhouette instead of floating on it — the wide type follows the shoulder line while the coffin sits at the natural visual weight point.
